'Ecce Homo' by Howard Goodall is the theme to the comedy series 'Mister Bean' starring Rowen Atkinson. Originally a choral work this arrangement, for three Bb Clarinets and Bass Clarinet tries to create a similar feel. A good balanced legato style of playing bis required with players concentrating on the sound blend and clear articulation across the ensemble. To make things more 'interesting' the Lead line of the music swops between the three Bb Clarinet parts demanding an evenness of tone between the players.
Barry Gray's theme to 'Captain Scarlet', Gerry Anderson's eighth 'Marionation' series is probably the second most memorable after 'Thunderbirds'.
The theme is built on a four note series (E' B C F') which itself is a variuation of the rising 'Mysteron' leitmotief (E B C F) indicating Scarlets' Mysteron past. This arrangement for Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, and Baritone Sax, Trombone and Drums tries to keep the active feel of the music. An optional percussion (windchimes) part is also provided.
