'VESPERA' by Robert Prizeman arranged for Wind Band

Vespera, originally for choir and orchestra, begins with the plainchant for 'Te lucid ante terminum' asking for protection during the night and continues with a setting of 'Before the end of the day'. This arrangement for wind band attempts to evelop the vocal arrangement with colours of the wind instruments ts in sections and complementary groupings. Textures grow then fade into the sparse orchestration of the final section. Available on Sheet Music Direct

The Theme to "Lovejoy" - Denis King

Denis King wrote this lovely theme for the BBC TV series, based on the books by Jonathan Gash, following the the adventures of the eponymous Lovejoy, played by Ian McShane, a roguish antiques dealer based in East Anglia. Within the trade, he has a reputation as a "divvy", a person with almost unnatural powers of recognising exceptional items as well as distinguishing genuine antiques from fakes or forgeries. He, on occasion, plays a little fast and loose with the truth.

This arrangement for Wind Quintet is perfect for concert, garden party or background use.

Pop Looks Bach - Denis King

'Pop Looks Bach' was written by English composer Sam Fonteyn for the Boosey and Hawkes Music Library. The piece is a pastiche of Bach's Baroque style where a melody line is interspersed with a pedal note as heard in the famous Fugue in D minor. In the UK it was used as the theme music to the long running sports show 'Ski Sunday' and in the USA during the 1980s it was used as the theme to the religious radio show The World Tomorrow. In this arrangement for Flute, Clarinet and Bassoon the melodic content is shared across all the instruments. Performance needs to sensitively blend the melody from instrument to instrument and keep the accompaniment from drowning the tune.
