Hawaii Five - O
The theme music used in both the original and the more recent remake, was composed by Morton Stevens. The theme was also recorded by 'The Ventures' and is still popular with marching and concert bands.
This arrangement for Alto, Tenor and Baritone Saxes with Trombone and Drums is based on the version by 'The Ventures' and would make an excellent encore piece.

Hill Street Blues
Mike Post's gentle and slightly melancholy theme to the 1980's Police drama series "Hill Street Blues" underplays the gritty and fast paced storylines of each episode.
This arrangement features the Piano, as in the original. There are chord symbols in the Clarinet part for an improvised solo.

The Inspector Clouseau Theme
'The Inspector Clouseau Theme' from the film 'The Pink Panther Strikes Again', by Henry Mancini aptly portrays the bumbling character created by Peter Sellars.
This arrangement for small performance ensemble emmulates the original sense of fun and targets precision of the ensemble playing in its performance.

Last of the Summer Wine
The theme tune to the iconic long running BBC Comedy of the same name following the antics of three elderly men never seemed to grow up. Ronnie Hazelhurst's mellow theme is arranged for Clarinet, Alto Sax. Tenor Sax, Keyboard (Piano/Strings), Bass and Guitar.

Life's Incredible Again
Not a TV theme but this music from Michal Giacchino's score from 'The Incredibles' is just too good not to include in a concert. Scored for Alto, Tenor and Baritone Saxes, Trombone and Drums the big band vibe is maintained.

Maigret
Nigel Hess wrote this evokative theme for the 1992 ITV production based on the "Maigret" novels of Georges Simenon starring Michael Gambon.
The instrumentation includes keyboard which should be able to play both piano and accordian sounds, although if you have an accordian to hand! The clarinet and 'accordian' parts include feature solos.

The Merry Ocarina
Pierre Arvay (1924 - 1980) was a French composer particularly known in the world of library music. The Merry Ocarina is a charming little piece originally featuring the Ocarina, but in this arrangement replaced by the Tenor Recorder. The interplay between the recorder and glockenspiel provides a contrast in tone and texture and is accompanied in a simplistic style by the suspended cymbal, guitar and bass.

Midsomer Murders
Midsomer Murders is a British crime drama mystery series, and has been broadcast since 1997. It features a mixture of lighthearted whimsy and dark humour along with the plot, often including mutliple fatalities and unusual circumstances.
Jim Parker's theme reflects the pastoral and quirky nature of the programme through the instrumentation and a gental use of dischordant harmonies, variation and some pastiche.

Old Ned
Ron Grainer's characterful theme for the BBC's 'Steptoe and Son' beautifully captures the plodding of a Rag and Bone man's horse as they travel around the streets of the Shepherd's Bush area of London in the early 1960's. Scored lightly for Clarinet, Baritone Sax, Trombone, Guitar and Percussion the arrangement aims to capture the battle between the two main characters whilst life and the horse continue to plod on regardless.

Paddington Bear Theme
The Paddington Bear Theme by Herbert Chappell was used as the theme tune to the British animated television series 'Paddington' which was broadcast on BBC from 1976 to 1980 and produced by Filmfare. The music has a very 1920's feel to the music and this arrangement uses the lighter clarinet and muted trombone sounds to set that period tone. The melody is share between the instuments to give interest to players and audience.

The Adventures of Robinson Crusoe
Based on Defoe's novel the 1964 TV serial features some distinctive music, including the opening theme which remains popular today.
Written in haste for the English language version of the series the score's blend of early 18th century style and contempory influences gives a unique feel to the series.

U.F.O.
Barry Grey's music to the Gerry Anderson series 'UFO' was very much based around a four note motif. This arrangement of the opening title music features driving off beat rhythms accompanying the main thematic material. A slower 'Lounge Music' style section has been introduced into the arrangement as a brief contrast.

Walking In The Air
Walking in the Air' was included in the music written by Howard Blake for the animated film 'The Snowman' based on the book by Raymond Briggs.
This arrangement for mixed ensemble departs from the original style of the music by placing it in a more Ska revival style giving the music a brighter, but harder edge. Something slightly different for the Christmas playlist!
