The Adventures of Robinson Crusoe
Based on Defoe's novel Robinson Crusoe a French-German televsion drama was aired in 1964 with original music by Georges Van Parys. For the English language version the BBC required a completely new sound track which was provided at short notice by Gian Piero Reverberi and Robert Mellin. The new score, including the title sequence, was a distinctive blend of late 17th and early 18th century style with some very 1960's influences.

Andante in C Op 43. No.6 by Mauro Giuliani (1781 -1829). Italian by birth, Giuliani moved to Vienna and was an early adopter of the 'Classical' style. He was a friend of Beethoven and Rossini and a highly regarded guitar virtuoso, cellist and teacher. He wrote over 150 works for guitar including three concertos which are still in repertoire today. His studies for guitar are still widely performed.

Fawlty Towers
The BBC sitcom 'Fawlty Towers', written and starring John Cleese and Connie Booth and set in a sea-side hotel in Torquay. Composer Dennis Wilson produced a gentle 'Palm Court Orchestra' theme for string quartet. The main theme leads to a much faster 6/8 section in which the melody is varied and distorted melodically and harmonically before the main theme reoccurs. The music concludes with a rather forced coda.


Hawaii Five - 0
The theme music used in both the original and the more recent remake, was composed by Morton Stevens. The theme was also recorded by 'The Ventures' and is still popular with marching and concert bands.
